Wedding photography in Taranaki carries a significant risk of being rained on, even in the summer. On Shane and Nicola's wedding day there was plenty of rain, though to balance it out there was also some sunshine... and some hail... and some lightning. Oh well, the show must go on! Kingfisher Cottage, near Eltham, was able to cater perfectly to the occasion.
Umbrellas all around as the guests arrive. They mingle inside around the Christmas tree (it's December after all!) as the bride completes her preparations. The sun even came out at some point.
The ceremony location was moved to the deck as the skies opened up again. Guests crowded under the awning for shelter. The ceremony went off without a hitch and the bubbly started flowing.
I always like taking a wide-angle photo of all the wedding guests after the ceremony, before moving onto group photos and then bridal portraits. The sun came out again around this time which not only made my job easier, but gave everybody just one more reason smile on the day.
